This document will present (January 2025) an overview of the history of the Levasseurs of Fort Kent, Alberta, written by France Levasseur-Ouimet, professor emeritus and writer-in-residence at Campus Saint-Jean. France Levasseur-Ouimet, who has played a significant role in preserving Franco-Albertan culture, has dedicated numerous projects to the French-speaking communities of Alberta, including guided tours, conferences, and the creation of a historical map of Franco-Albertan communities. She has also published several books and collections on this history, while actively participating in French-language theater in Edmonton.

This document is a major resource for members of the Levasseur and Carmel Families Association, offering essential insights into the Francophone heritage and the significance of the Levasseurs in Western Canada.

A big thank you to Pierre LeVasseur, who carefully translated this extensive document from French to English, allowing a broader audience to discover this precious family heritage.
