Étienne Levasseur was born on December 11, 1803, in Bécancour, Nicolet, QC. He was the first child of Étienne Augustin Levasseur (born October 3, 1777) and Antoinette Genest\Labarre (born September 16, 1782). He had five brothers (Louis Étienne Levasseur, born January 2, 1805, Jean-Baptiste Levasseur, born May 23, 1806, François Levasseur, born August 23, 1807, Alexandre Levasseur, born February 28, 1809, Joseph Levasseur, born July 1, 1814, and one sister, Marie Levasseur, born April 24, 1810, and one stillborn on August 15, 1813.

He was 10 years old when his mother Antoinette Genest\Labarre died on September 18, 1814. He was 47 when his father Étienne Augustin Levasseur died.

On October 3, 1826, Étienne Levasseur married Marguerite Larivière, born April 28, 1806 in Bécancour, Nicolet, QC. He was 22 years old when he married Marguerite Larivière, who was 20 at the time. He had 19 children with Marguerite Larivière: Étienne Théophile Levasseur (August 10, 1827), Esdras Isidore Levasseur (August 24, 1828), Prosper Levasseur (November 29, 1829), Hilaire Levasseur (January 27, 1831), Louis Georges Levasseur (April 2, 1832), Eusèbe Levasseur (February 22, 1833), Aurélie Levasseur (October 7, 1834), Célina Appolline Levasseur (December 11, 1835), Nazaire Levasseur (February 2, 1837), Joseph Levasseur (February 2, 1837), David Levasseur (May 5, 1838), Élisée Levasseur (July 20, 1839), Marie-Marguerite Levasseur (March 15, 1841), Théophile Levasseur (July 14, 1842), Clarisse Levasseur (November 23, 1843), Antoine Privat Levasseur (March 7, 1845), Alfred Levasseur (June 17, 1846), Zéphirin Levasseur (July 19, 1848) and Marie Levasseur (June 19, 1850).

On October 22, 1890, Étienne Levasseur died at Ste-Angèle-de-Laval, Nicolet, QC, at age 86. He was buried in Ste-Angèle-de-Laval, Nicolet, QC on October 25, 1890. His wife Marguerite Larivière died on July 14, 1884, 6 years before him. According to the most recent version of our database (2023), the couple would have just under 2,500 descendants.
