There is a place called « LeVasseur » located in Manitoba on Eaglenest Lake, near the border with Ontario, south of Lake Winnipeg. Its designation: LeVasseur Isle (Latitude 50° 18’57 », Longitude 95° 11’42”). It was named after Lucien Charles LeVasseur who was killed when the plane in which he was above Dussledorf in Germany crashed in October 1944 during World War II. The name of the island was adopted in 1982 by the Toponymy Commission of Canada.
